So this is me – a vegan who loves food! A few years ago, I used to eat just about anything…meat, fish, dairy, vegetables. But the day I decided to investigate where my food came from, was the day I realised eating everything we can buy at the supermarket was no longer an option for me. I will not say much about this topic because this isn’t an activist’s blog…lets just say, I wasn’t happy with what I found out.
At that point, I thought I would give veganism a go. But when you’re used to eating a bit of everything, going vegan is not an easy task. At the beginning you have to fight the cravings, then you have to deal with the confusion and pity you get from your friends who cannot seem to understand why anyone would willingly give up eating meat, and finally, you have to learn to accept that you’ll often have to walk that extra mile to find the nearest bio store that sells the vegan mortadella you so desperately want for your mid-morning snack. But once you get the hang of it, it’s not all that bad! Its a whole new world to put it in a way, and if you have the will and interest to explore it, you’ll soon see that being vegan does not necessarily mean subjecting yourself to a life of rabbit food meals and bitterness.
Vegan food can be tasty, elaborate, elegant, and surprising! And that’s exactly why I started this blog – to share recipes and spread the word about all things vegan, delicious and nutritious (and even if you’re a meat eater, you too are allowed to enjoy it!).
