Classic Hummus

Any day is a good day for hummus! This delicious chickpea paste goes well on bread, crackers, with veg…and the best part, it’s oh-so inexpensive and easy to make. The only “costly” ingredient is the tahini paste, but one pot will last you FOREVER ( unless you nom a bowl of hummus very other day like me…then it will last you like a week 🙂 ).

classic_hummusThere are many different ways to make classic hummus, not to mention all the other yummy varieties like curry – or beetroot hummus. Here’s how I make mine:

Ingredients
  1. 200g chickpeas
  2. 100ml water
  3. 1 tsp ground cumin
  4. 1 tbsp raw tahini paste
  5. juice from 1/2 lemon
  6. handful fresh parsley
  7. 1 garlic clove
  8. salt&pepper
  9. chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
  1. With a hand blender, blend together the chickpeas, tahini paste, cumin, garlic, chilli powder, parsley and lemon juice.
  2. I personally like my hummus a bit thinner, so I also add some water. Season with salt and pepper.
Notes
  1. Serve with crackers or veg!
