Nutty Plum Brownies

I am absolutely in love with these brownies because they are the perfect combination of fruit, nuts, and chocolate – my 3 favourite things! ❤ The key ingredients you need to make this dessert are cacao powder, plums and raisins, brazil nuts, vanilla and cinnamon, as well as some orange zest and juice.                        Nutty Plum BrowniesAs a sweetener, I used panela sugar, which is essentially unrefined whole cane sugar. You can also use coconut sugar if you prefer. I didn’t add a lot of sugar because I wanted the flavours of the dried fruits to stand out. At the end, when your brownies are baked, you can also top them off with some melted chocolate. 🙂                   Nutty Plum BrowniesHere’s how you make these nutty plum brownies:

Ingredients
  1. 175g all purpose flour
  2. 100g brazil nuts
  3. 25g cacao powder
  4. 75g dried plums ( cut into smaller pieces )
  5. 75g panela sugar ( unrefined whole cane sugar )
  6. 25g raisins
  7. 1 tsp baking powder
  8. 3-4 drops vanilla essence
  9. 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  10. 175ml soy milk
  11. 125ml sunflower oil
  12. zest & juice from 1/2 orange
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  2. Chop the nuts, and the plums into smaller pieces.
  3. Mix the flour, cacao, sugar, cinnamon, and baking powder.
  4. Add the soy milk, the sunflower oil, the orange zest & juice, and the vanilla. Stir until well combined.
  5. Fold in the nuts, raisins, and plums.
  6. Pour the mixture in a pre-greased cake pan, and bake for 35-40 minutes in the preheated oven.
  7. Set aside to cool, and top off with melted chocolate before serving.
