Power Green Smoothie

I used to sweeten a lot of desserts and smoothies with agave….and now it looks like agave has joined the “evil club” of products. It’s super processed, and some studies even suggest it can be more harmful than sugar. I’m not sure to what extent that’s true, but one thing everyone seems to agree on ( except our fellow agave syrup producers ) is that agave is no longer what it used to be. So fellow vegans, if you are looking for a vegan alternative to honey, the best options are maple or coconut syrup. Molasses is also a good alternative, though I personally find it a bit too sweet and odd tasting.power green smoothie When it comes to natural sweeteners, I’ve started using dates in my baking and smoothie making. So good! I whipped up this power green smoothie the other day, and even though it’s loaded with spinach, just by adding a couple of dates, you’ve got yourself a pleasantly sweet, but still very healthy breakfast. A tip from me to you? Shelve the agave, and grab those dates! 🙂 power green smoothie
